* Names you like (& are willing to share): have tossed around Charles Niall and Hugh Davis for boys. Caroline Ruth, or Caroline Grace maybe for girls. Nothing is really set in stone yet.
* Birth plans/preferences: we'd like a homebirth this time, and I'm trying to get some interviews set up with a couple of local midwives. But our insurance covers 100% so it's going to come down to whether or not we can afford it.
* Anything else you'd like to share: nope
Hey, I live near you!

* What number child is this for you: #2!
* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DH-D (41), DS-S (16 months), One already neglected pup--Joshu (poor, poor dog).
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): This will be it for us so I hope for a girl--one of each would be really nice. But, of course, another boy would be great too!
* Names you like (& are willing to share): No idea. DH and I had the hardest time with this the first time around!
* Birth plans/preferences: Same as with DS--at our local birthcenter, with DH, my sister, my mom, and my MIL present
* Anything else you'd like to share: Still in shock, but I always envisioned having two (DH was happy with one, but is taking the news very well!), so I'm very excited as well! Still confused about how to navigate the toddler-newborn thing, but I guess we will figure it out!
You aren't far from me either.

Ok... *deep breath* Hi everyone!

If you know me IRL/FB/Twitter/blog, please don't say anything, we haven't told people yet. Thanks!

* EDD: April 25th (I think... we'll see what the MW says and whether I'll stay with you all or head over to May.
* Name: Natalie
* Age: 24
* Location: MO (did I see some other MO mamas here? Hi!)
* How long it took to you to get your BFP: we've never tried or tried to avoid
* What number child is this for you: 3!
* Family: husband, Micah, kiddos N (26 months) and M (16 months)
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): no idea! and love to be surprised, so won't find out.
* Names you like (& are willing to share): we usually don't share our chosen names, but some of the ones I'm mulling over are Moses, Grace, Elizabeth, Levi...
* Birth plans/preferences: a third homebirth! possibly a waterbirth this time...
* Anything else you'd like to share: Looking forward to getting to know you all! I see from the other threads that there are quite a few nursing mamas here, I'm currently tandem nursing but weaning DS. He is doing very well with it and so far it has been far easier than I had expected. I know that last time my milk supply went down midway and I'd rather my littler one have whatever is left at that point. Looking forward to maybe tandeming again!

I guess I'm in!!!
So, !!!

ETA: If you know me IRL, don't out me yet! It's still a secret!
  • EDD: end of April sometime (my dates are a little fudgy - I'll probably make up an EDD with plenty of "cushion" room when I go for my first prenatal)
  • NAME: Comtessa is fine!
  • AGE: 30 (that probably deserves another !)
  • LOCATION: Cleveland, OH -- hi bttrflygypsy, cb718 and Bethany!!!!
  • HOW LONG IT TOOK YOU TO GET YOUR BFP: Well, we weren't exactly trying, but we weren't exactly preventing. I should have known, given our history (DD1 was an "oops") that not-preventing IS trying!!! I only had one PPAF before my BFP! I guess I have my family's legendary fertility...
  • WHAT NUMBER CHILD IS THIS: #2
  • FAMILY: Me, DH, DD1 (14 months) and the perpetually vomiting cat.
  • BABY'S GENDER:We don't care what gender it is!
  • NAMES: Oy, DH is already trying to write a names list. I'm still exhausted from wrangling over names the last time. I really want to give this baby my last name (DD has his), but I think it's going to be a major battle -- last names have been a Very Touchy Subject in our household since I decided to hyphenate mine when we got married. I wouldn't have taken his name at all if he hadn't been so heartbroken about the idea of us having two different names. I'm leaning towards, "DH, name the baby whatever you want, as long as I get to pick her/his last name!"
  • BIRTH PLANS/PREFERENCES: Another Touchy Subject at the moment. DD1 was a planned homebirth but ended in a hospital transfer. I don't want to repeat that experience. I'm leaning towards a birth center with a (Very Very Good) CNM, but even with insurance, it will cost a LOT more than our homebirth midwife cost with DD. I really want to try for a homebirth again, but I'm a little unsure of my ability to birth at home since I couldn't do it last time, and I don't want that doubt to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, KWIM? And DH is absolutely opposed to a home birth this time; he was terrified out of his wits by my (non-emergency) transfer the last time. *Sigh*
  • ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE: Welcome to MDC, OregonUrbanFarmer!! Oh, and Blanca, I was so happy to hear that you're trying to finish your graduate degree this year -- I finished mine the year DD was born. It is possible! You can do it!
I never got on board with my DDC (May '09, like lightheartedmom!) until well after DD was born, so I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you from the beginning!

congrats!! maybe you'd both be willing to pick a new, family last name? my husband and i went that route when we got married and it was a big relief to me as i felt strongly that i'd want to have the same last name as my kids (until/unless they change their own, of course!)

Please add me to the April 2011 Due date club

EDD: April 13
* Name: Mlisa
* Age: 39 (I'll be 40 when I deliver!)
* Location: Southwest Florida
* How long it took to you to get your BFP: I've nursed my DS since April 2008 and just had my first cycle in June. July was just supposed to be practice...
* What number child is this for you: 2
* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DP, DS, & 1 kitty.
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): I think I want a girl but I don't know why. I'm sure I'll be happy either way.
* Names you like (& are willing to share): DS was 5 days old before we picked his so it will be a while for that.
* Birth plans/preferences: DS came fast at a birthing center - 1 hour after we got there - and the drive over and home were the worst parts of the wonderful experience. So this time I'm thinking we'll stay home and have midwife come to us!
* Anything else you'd like to share: I'm starting coursework on my PhD and my partner is starting work on his masters so this should be fun!

* EDD: April 24th 2011

* Name: Tiff

* Age: 30

* Location: Southern Tier & Finger Lakes regions NY

* How long it took to you to get your BFP: I used both 1st Response sticks at once, the morning my period was due - they were both positive before I had time to put the caps on!

* What number child is this for you: 2

* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Travis (25) & Leila (8.5)

* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): we keep thinking & saying "he"...

* Names you like (& are willing to share): I've got none picked out at all but Daddy's always wanted to name his boy Kane & it doesn't bother me so that's what it'll be if it's a boy

* Birth plans/preferences: I'm too scared for homebirth, it just won't be comfortable for me ... last time I had too many family members in the room so this time we're gonna try just me & Daddy with a couple friends on backup when he needs a break

* EDD: April 6, 2011

* Name: Melissa

* Age: 27

* Location: Utah

* How long it took to you to get your BFP: I had just gotten my first period back after having my son 2 years ago (we were still BFing until recently) and we caught the first egg! We weren't 100% sure if we were going to start trying yet, but I think it's good timing afterall.

* What number child is this for you: #2

* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DH (30) and DS (2)

* Gender: I have no real preference.

* Names you like (& are willing to share): I have no idea. DH really likes the name Jack for a boy. Our poor DS was nameless for 2 weeks after he was born.

* Birth plans/preferences: This will be our second homebirth. I find it interesting when people say they are too nervous or scared to have a homebirth, because, well, the thought of giving birth in a hospital makes me feel nervous and scared!

* Anything else you'd like to share: Not that comes to mind right now.
post #178 of 260
popping reluctantly in and outing myself!

* EDD: estimated as april 28th for now. will most likely change
* Name: hiiiii! I'm Lizz
* Age: 25
* Location: St. Louis, Mo
* How long it took to you to get your BFP: i just KNEW I was pregnant after our one-time-anniversary-no-protection incident. Sure enough, I tested a week later with the faintest positive. another week after that I tested bfp on august 17th
* What number child is this for you: 3!
* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DH 26, dd1 4, dd2 2, goober the dog 5
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): we will be thrilled with either!
* Names you like (& are willing to share): Jeremiah, Isabelle, Gwendolyn.. I could go on for days. I won't bore you
* Birth plans/preferences: our first homebirth, second all natural midwife attended
* Anything else you'd like to share: please cross your crossables for us. our HCG levels aren't doubling like they're supposed to, and our ob we went to for our confirmation is insistent that there should have been a heartbeat this past week.. whereas by my count, i shouldn't have one until next week. anyway, it's a big stressful to-do over here, so any goodvibes spared would be appreciated!

Can't wait to get to know all of you mamas throughout the months ahead! Congrats to everyone!

First baby!

* EDD: 4/23/2011
* Name: Emily
* Age: 30
* Location: Massachusetts
* How long it took to you to get your BFP: First try!
* What number child is this for you: 1
* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): My husband, 2 dogs, and a bunch of feathered friends
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): No preference, but we think it's a boy
* Names you like (& are willing to share): Not sure yet
* Birth plans/preferences: Midwife at a hospital
* Anything else you'd like to share: Very excited that "it worked" on our try. Soooo sick right now, I wasn't expecting the nausea to be this bad, and I can't wait for it to end! We saw the little hearbeat on an ultrasound this week and it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. The whole process makes me a little nervous because I'm a nurse in a newborn ICU and have seen some pretty scary things, so I'm looking forward to hearing about some positive pregnancy/childbirth experiences.
post #180 of 260
Can you change my EDD from early to mid April to April 13th? I just had an ultrasound this weekend at the hospital and now have a due date!
