Nurses a question for you on medical professionals & retraction

I was wondering since there seem to be some nurses updated on the No Retraction and they know it's wrong to do so .

So how did you realize that retraction was wrong wrong & very bad too ?

Did any medical professional try to get you to do it ?

Did you try to share with other nurses and doctors what you learned did they reject your sharing as in not changing their habbits as in continuing to do the wrong thing or did they change their habbits and no longer did the retraction ?

If the nurses/doctors didn't change their habbits after you updated them the answer is why would they ignore changes of things is it because they are habitual stuck in that pratice because that what they were told to do so why not change if it is told that it is now believe to be wrong thing to do ?

We were taught not to retract in nursing school.
I work in a NICU so ~99% of our babies are intact. No one has ever tried to tell me to retract. No reason to, in our unit.

I should clarify that there's never a reason to, in any unit.

I honestly can't recall if we were taught not to retract a baby/child or not. I don't think it was ever mentioned in the classroom. It was mentioned that if we ever retracted a grown man to clean (such as an elderly person in a nursing home while bathing him) that we must replace the foreskin forward.

As far as the workplace goes, all the literature I've read has advised against retracting and what parent info I can recall that nursery passed out did say to just wipe the outside (haven't seen the intact care handout in years so I don't know what it currently states). I know I've never retracted a baby and I've never seen any other nurses or doctors do it but I also don't work in nursery where they'd normally be doing the catheters.
