The One Weekly Chat - August (I keep forgetting to start a new one!) - Page 8

Husband got called out on a temp (overtime-- a tree fell on someone's house or something, and they have to go do a temporary fix until people can be scheduled out there to fix it right) and won't be home until after Em's bedtime. I'm all depressed because he was working literally five minutes from home today and I was looking forward to him being home all early and us having a good evening (I was even going to do bacon/eggs/blueberry pancakes for dinner). Instead I have to put Em to bed by myself and get no break. Plus we'll probably end up having like grilled cheeses for dinner because I never feel like cooking an actual meal when he's not home.

And I'm tired and feel huge and want a shower. Boo.

Thank goodness Im not the only one!

We have not been eating the greatest with DH gone... I just dont feel like theres as much appreciation of me taking the time to make pulled beef sandwiches or whatever... because half the time one of the kids is being picky.

When dads here, he appreciates EVERYTHING I make because he has had to fend for himself for about 6 years and never was really big into cooking for himself.

If its not fast food, takeout, or a microwave meal, he is happy as a clam.

Glad to know I'm not crazy about not wanting a pit stop. The plan was to try to get my parents a key to the front door of my building, but I live in a co-op and they apparently don't consider being in labor one of the good reasons to let someone have an extra key (even temporarily). Plus, my mom doesn't drive on highways, so it'll have to be my dad that comes down for the pug, which makes me feel bad since he works really long days.

Anyway, glad to know *I'm* not the crazy one!

Also--I'm with everyone on actually enjoying doing laundry when it's itty bitty little onesies and shirts and what not. I went shopping today for a few more things (practical stuff, like side-snap t-shirts, and then some cutesy stuff, b/c I am a sucka) and then washed them as soon as I got back. Now they're sitting on the bed, just waiting for when DH comes home, so he can lose his mind over the cuteness...

They make some super cute ones for boys too...

I wish they had the cowboy boot ones back when I had DS... He had a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt both in a small enough size that would have been hilariously adorable!

And that would be super cute since dp is a farmer... Crap! I might have to buy more stuff!

uuuuuugh....

feeling like its nothing though as Mae is still moving around DURING the contractions (which seriously? does NOT feel good)

Pregnancy brain means sometimes you end up starting to cook dinner at 3 PM and still end up ordering a pizza:

Quote:
Place the pork in a casserole that is just large enough to hold it and has a lid. Sprinkle the roast on all sides with Worcestershire sauce. Then press brown sugar coating on all sides of the pork. Pour the apple juice down the side of the casserole to the bottom, being sure not to drizzle it on the crusted meat. Cover tightly.
I swear, I was LOOKING to see if it needed to be covered and somehow the bolded was lost in translation between my eyes and my brain. Well, it'll be a good lunch tomorrow.

I WISH I could have ordered pizza tonight. Supper wasn't bad, I just didn't have the motivation to make it!

I made some *edible* ribs. Not very much flavor and I don't know what happened except that instead of taking the time to make them right I just kinda cranked up the oven so I could cut the baking time in half... which worked. We ate, it just wasn't yummy.

Did your contractions get better MaerynP?

yeah taking the time to make ribs is a very important step to making good ribs!

My contractions seem to have faded back off to just noticeable by the tightening tummy. Had a bit of drama I think may have scared them out of me... DD fell down and ripped part of her mouth... was gushing blood and Im freaking out as DH is gone and his car is on base, my car does not have base stickers and the hospital is on base... and our emergency backup friend with the car with base stickers took off this week to visit her hubby, forgetting she was supposed to be our backup! There is a way on base without stickers, and probably pretty fast since I have my military ID and my daughter was bleeding but still...

luckily with an ice compress the bleeding stopped after just a couple minutes and we saw the rip was very very minor.

I hate mouth injuries. I swear it just bleeds and bleeds and bleeds even if its something tiny!

So yeah, gonna go lay in the tub for a while.

BTW you can just call me Mae if you like.

People called me MP for a while but uh, getting closer to labor MP means something TOTALLY different to me and Im not sure I want to be called that LOL

I never thought about the MP connection until the other day when someone was talking about losing theirs, and all I coud think was OMG, she must really *hate* it when I write her name EVERY time as MP!

I'm glad your DD is better! How scary, can you guys get another set of base stickers?

Kelly - I totally understand. I hope your night wasn't too bad.

I'm at work and have no motivation to be here. My plan is to make it through next week. I need to finish training my replacements. They hired two people at 130% to do what I do in 95%, so that makes feel kinda effective and like I'll be missed. But neither of them are here today. I just finish up so I'm really DONE.

My MIL is bring over pizza tonight. Phew!

Thought I was going into PTL last night at about 2 am. Got up to pee and when I laid back down, I was just crampy, lower back pain, and painless abdominal contractions every 3-4 minutes for like 45 minutes. So that was fun laying there freaking out and debating whether or not I should get up. Ended up just trying to go back to sleep and eventually succeeding. No MP (hehe) or bloody show or anything like that, so I reckon my uterus was just acting up a bit. Just make it another week and a half, okay, uterus?

Feeling okay so far this morning. Going to try to stay hydrated and take it easy. It's just so hard to take it easy when I'm all by myself with a toddler, a lot of getting on the floor and having to stand back up, constantly lifting this 21-pound weight, etc. At least my husband will be home at the regular time today (knock on wood).

Sorry you had rough nights, Mae and Kelly.

foodmachine, I'd feel so under appreciated if I were you! 95% fte vs. 130%? You're a rock star!

Had a super scary evening. Two nights ago, I noticed a weird "flabby" area on the bottom of my belly, down low where you can't see unless you look in the mirror but above my external c/s scar. Till this, my skin on my belly has been very tight. I thought it curious but figured it was just weird stretching. Then last night, I was sitting on the floor playing Memory with my girls when I felt a donut around my belly button!

I looked in the mirror, and there was large, egg shaped "bubble" extending from the top of my belly button down underneath my belly. The funny spot was growing! It freaked me out enough to call my doula to get her opinion on whether I should call the OB. All I could think was that my internal scar had sprung a leak, and amniotic fluid was gathering under my skin! She did advise me to call the OB--AND she came to my house! (She's also a MW and my neighbor.)

All that to find out that such an accumulation of fluid underneath the skin under the belly is pretty common and within the scope of normal. The 'swelling' around my belly button drained back down underneath my belly once I sat in a different position.

My legs shook for a good 30 min after that--I was so freaked out!

I guess I found out where some of the 6lbs of water weight I gained last week is hanging out.

Freaky! I'm glad it turned out to be no big deal.

Glad you are feeling better Kelly!
Pink! That does sound scary!

Already the 11th! Time is just flying by. My little sister is driving 8 hours to come and get me today! lol! She'll stay the night here and then I will be going with her until Monday. Poor girl, then she'll drive me back and stay until Wednesday. An odd compromise, I don't want to drive anywhere and she wants to throw me a baby shower in Montana where I lived as a child.

Wow pink, that is freaky! Glad it was just a weird pregnancy thing and nothing bad.

Ah, pregnancy.
