I get lots of compliments on my daughter's relatively healthy eating habits and well developed culinary palate.
I think we might think of something relatively simple and healthy like an apple as something most kids eat, but in reality people are relying more and more heavily on processed food products that are marketed for babies and toddlers, and less and less on fresh, whole foods to the point that even fruit that hasn't been minced and freeze-dried and put in a jar with a flip-top lid is "weird" and we're seen as lucky or exceptional parents if our kids will eat it.
I know there are kids in my relatively close family and circle of friends that I have literally never witnessed eating a fresh, raw fruit or vegetable. They went from formula or breast milk to jarred baby food, then those freeze dried puff snacks and other packaged 'first foods', then applesauce and hot dogs, then Happy Meals

My daughter is allowed to have fast food occasionally, just in the interest of full disclosure, but she also eats fresh fruits and vegetables, aged cheeses, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, etc. and asks for apple cider vinegar and hemp seeds on her veggies
