12mo hasn't had a bm in over a week!!!

he's mostly breast-fed, doesn't really like foods, but will occasionally suck fruit in one of those mesh, teething things.

every so often he'll go a few days without a bm, but on the whole he is a once-a-day pooper.

this time, however he hasn't gone in 8 days. he seems otherwise fine, happy, healthy.

i am hoping someone can give me advice on what to do. is this cause to phone his doctor?

Funny, I was just coming on here to post that my 4 month old hasn't had a BM in over a week. As far as I know, it is normal for breast fed babies. Essentially, breast milk metabolizes really well and doesn't leave a lot of 'waste'. If baby becomes uncomfortable you can give a little prune juice mixed with water.
It is concerning though, isn't it? I just imagine how I would feel if I hadn't gone in a week!

If he normally goes every day then I would try a glycerine suppository. I use this one. If that doesn't work then call the Ped.

I gave my son the squishy insides of two prunes and that helped him go after it had been I think 5 day (not the norm for him). something to try. I just squished it out and placed it in his mouth bit by bit. He liked it.

Loon into your diet. Eat lighter foods. That might be it.

You can try some prunes. I would boil on or 2 prunes in water them put them in the food processor w/ the juice.

If you cant do the prunes try pears or 2 oz of pear juice.
