another diva cup thread

I am wearing mine for the first time right now.

I am a bit like a girl with her period for the first time. I bought my diva cup in 2002 but never got a chance to wear it until today. Dd2 was born February 2003, dd3 was born June 2005, ds2 will be 3 shortly. I have gone over 35 months since he was born with no need for it but now the day has come.

I am not uncomfortable but I am very aware of it. I may need to change to darker shorts before heading out to the dentist and orthodontist with my girls later today just for mental comfort. Luckily I got my run in already and don't have to be comfortable enough for that right now.

I feel a bit dry with it in and am anxious about removal.

Just looking for a bit of support I guess. It isn't something I am likely to talk about IRL today though it is a big deal to me - more that my cycle has returned than anything.

I just got a Mooncup and used it for first time last week.

I was very aware of it the first day. I could feel it pressing against me it seemed. Also I keep removing it to make sure it was not overflowing. It was a bit disconcerting when I could feel big amounts of blood flowing into the cup and kind of bubbling around it seemed. I did wear a cloth pad just in case I inserted it wrong or I bled really heavily, but it never overflowed.

Removal was no problem.

By day three I was less aware of it, and I am kind of looking forward to trying it out again next period.

Same here, I could feel it on the first day, but once I got to practice over a few cycles I don't feel it anymore. And now I find it less dry than tampons, not more.

Oh, and I wear a pantyliner for backup, but I did that with tampons too. First it was sposie liners, now I have pretty cloth ones.

Thanks ladies. It is something of an adjustment for me. It seems to be doing its job but I am not very comfortable with it.

push it up some more. I learned i have to wear mine in further than the directions explained, but not all the way to your cervix, just in between. Also I have never had mine leak in 2 years, even if it was full to the top when i took it out. Def a learning curve....but once you are used to it so worth it.

Oh and I take mine out in the shower so I can rinse it and myself. HTH

I've found if I do a few kegels right after inserting it seems to help get it in the right position. Maybe that will help?

A ?: I don't have a Diva cup yet but I want to get one. My question is, I have a tilted cervix and tried to get a diaphragm or the FemCap and while it went in fine I couldn't get it out without help. So, we skipped that method but I am wondering if I will have the same problem with the Diva cup. Anyone else?

For me, the Diva was just too big and too long. Mostly the length, even though I trimmed off the entire stem. I was hesitant to spend more money, so I started wearing my Diva inside out. It was the ONLY way I was even somewhat comfortable, but it still kept falling out. I found a much shorter cup called Femmecup and I loooove it so much more.

This is a really good blog about different kind of cups, plus lots of tips, troubleshooting, etc.

When I first got my Lunette I definitely was aware of it the first few times I was wearing it. It came with a rather long stem, so I ended up cutting most of it off. I was pretty sure based on the dimensions that a diva cup would be too long to begin with, I would recommend looking around at some of the other brands. A couple of links for you:
