Sorting out Moms stuff!

We are currently living with my parents while we try to finish remodeling our house, who by the way are both truck drivers and spend max 5 days a month at home, so DD and I are by ourselves most of the time!

The problem a currently have is my Mom wants me to clean up some of the rooms, so I have started sorting though the mountains of stuff! She told me not to worry about getting rid of something she might still want, but I still worry and then there is all the paperwork I am coming across which I have been just putting into a box!

Now I am feeling that it is time for a major declutter, should I just go for it and not worry about the things I am getting rid of or should I worry about her changing her mind and being ticked that I got rid of something?

I hope this makes since! By the way I have never actually moved out, since they are always gone anyway I never felt the need for it until recently since DD was born!

Go for it! Since you've never moved out, you should have an idea of what type of things might be of special importance to your mother. Be respectful of those areas. However, be ruthless with obvious clutter & junk - cardboard boxes, old newspapers, empty containers, etc.

Items that you know are family heirlooms, though, you may want to be careful of.

One thing that you can use to your advantage in this is text messaging. If she has a cell & you have a cell & both have the capability to send/receive picture texts, then you can take cell phone snapshots of items that you aren't sure of, and send it to her with the question Is this okay to get rid of? All she'd have to do is respond yes or no.
