Signing all day long

DD (13mo) has recently begun signing for milkies without a prompt *before* we nurse. She used to latch, take a few sips, then sign. She seemed so pleased when she started signing for milkies beforehand and now she is doing it all.day.long! Even 5min after we are done (or less!) Should I offer to nurse every time? Should I ever tell her no? I have been allowing her to nurse whenever she asks/signs thinking the novelty would soon wear off, but it hasn't yet.

Advice?

I've been thinking about your post. I don't have any expertise, but at least I can give some thoughts and bump your thread!

The first thing I thought of is, now you know how very often DD thinks about nursing!! Kind of like how often men think about DTD? (jk)

Signing right after you finish might just be, "We just had milkies!" more than a request for more milkies. I would think a sign quite awhile later would be more of a request. If she's signing a little while later, I think it would be okay to ask her to confirm, "Do you want milkies?" and if yes, then give it. Or, you could follow the often-given advice, "Okay, right after ___." Sometimes they get involved in something else and forget about it.

But I bet this will pass soon. How exciting that DD is beginning to express her needs/wants!

hahahaha! Too funny.

Thanks for the input! I think she would gladly run around the house with it if I was "milkies to go" lol.
