Resource for soil conditions based on what's growing there?

I know I saw somewhere a resource that would help you determine the quality of the soil based on what was growing on it.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? It may have also talked about how to fix it depending on what you wanted to use the soil for (grazing, growing, etc.)

may have been the book _weeds and what they tell_ by Ehrenfried E. Pfeiffer (gee, reckon he's german??). I don't think it's widely available, but it does contain the info you describe (ex. whether a certain weed indicates acid soil or excess moisture). it's from Bio-Dynamic Farming and Gardening Assoc., PO Box 550, Kimberton, PA 19442.

hth!

Ugh... you ROCK!

THANK YOU!

ETA: My German grandmother told me "Never plant anything that won't give you food!" Those Germans are very serious about the garden!
