Hi everyone! I discovered this forum in my research as I plan for pregnancy/birth. My husband and I have been married since May 2009 and just started trying to conceive our first child. We are on cycle #1.
We are currently researching birth options in the Austin area and our current pick is a birth center (though we do not know which one). We definitely plan to breast feed, use cloth diapers, and make our own baby food. We are learning more and more each day about what else we would like to do as parents. I hope to learn lots here!
We are in a transition phase with our finances because we both just left our jobs. My husband is going back to school and I will soon be starting a job that (thankfully!) will allow me to work from home with 3-5 days of travel each month. We have budgeted well and really expanded our savings before leaving our jobs, but I know that this will be a challenge. We have such a strong desire to be parents and so much love to give, so I know we will make this work.
The major downside to leaving our jobs is losing our health insurance... which also makes a midwife/birth center a much better fit for our life. I do hope that you all will be supportive and understanding, not flameful, of our decision to leave our jobs to pursue a happier life.
I look forward to being part of this community and learning from you all!
P.S. Sorry this introduction was so long!
