I know it's early... I'm 5W+4D today. But my RE did an u/s this morning and the little bean is measuring 5W+5D! this is such good news for us because last April at our 5 1/2 week u/s there was nothing to be seen (assumed ectopic).

PERFECT!!! Congrats!! Will you go back in 2 weeks for another scan? That will be so cool you'll be able to see that little flicker!

I had an ultrasound today, too. I estimated I was 5 weeks, 3 days and the gestational sac is measuring 5/1, so pretty close. Nothing much to see yet, though. I should be going back in a week or two to make sure everything is progressing normally.

Oh, and when I click on the pic link, I get a message saying I don't have sufficient privileges to access the page. I wanna see!

Why did you get an ultrasound?

Can I ask why you had an ultrasound? I ask the question because I had one today as well, the gestational sac measured 5w 4d. I found out I was pregnant about 2 weeks after my first appt with an ob/gyn to discuss trouble conceiving. (Funny how that happened!) I had initially had testing 7 days after I ovulated, which showed a low progesterone level. The Dr sounded surprised when I told her I was pregnant, but had me come in for testing. Thus far, the 1 progesterone test I had and the 2 Hcg levels I've had were good. The nurse had told me that the purpose of the ultrasound was to show viability...but how can that be determined when there's no fetal pole or heartbeat to be seen? Just curious as to why others have gone through this too. Seems like a bit much this early in the game, but I could be wrong...
Congrats to all of you though! Let's hope we can all stay together through the journey!

we did IUIs with an RE both in march and july. well when i got pg in march 2010 my betas were not rising properly so they did an u/s to check viability. there wasn't anything to be seen and by 5+weeks there should be a yolk sac visible. when i got pg in july, my betas rose properly however they wanted to check for viability because of my previous loss. i also think this may be standard protcol for our RE/fertility specialist. i think he said we do 3 u/s before the 1st tri is over. one at 5 1/2 weeks, one at 8 weeks and one at 11/12 weeks. i'm sure in part because if you are at the RE then you probably were having problems getting pg and they want to be able to identify when a m/c occurs for tracking purposes in case you have problems in future cycles. i'm also sure it's partly about the $$. either way, it really made us rest assured that there is indeed a babe in there and has stuck around at least this long.
congrats to you too! did you get a pic of your sack? will you post??

As a side note, the best way to get a thread stickied is to PM one of the mods of the forum the thread is in with a link to the thread you want stickied.

Hanny - did your doc say anything about the hematoma you have? It looks like it's away from the placenta so that is good news - but you may get bleeding if you dtd. I've had hematomas in all my u/s'ed pregnancies - they can be scary!

Is that a hematoma? Or a twin?? :-) lol

He actually doesn't think it's a hematoma, though I agree with you that it certainly does look like it! He's an incredible RE who has never been dishonest with me, so I'm trying to chill and trust his opinion

Ahh - sorry - I've had such bad experiences with them I'm kind of sensitive to hematomas - sorry for overreacting! I'm so glad your RE is chill about it!

WOW!!! This brought tears to my eyes!!!! For real!!! I've looked on different websites to see what the baby looks like each week, but until you see it like you just shared, it's unreal. I haven't had an ultrasound since 8 weeks so seeing what my little one looked like 3 weeks ago is just amazing to me!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! That means a lot to me that you posted that! I could barely hold it together during the u/s - I just couldn't get over his/her heart - jumping up and down like a little pea in his/her chest. It made it so real.
