Vision Therapy for Visual Processing Disorder?

Has anyone here had any success with it? Anyone think it's a total scam? Any stories or words of wisdom to share?

Zayla had her assessment today and I think I'm ready to start her on the weekly therapy (I've been debating it for a year). But it's a lot of money and even though my friends swear by it, I'm still a bit nervous.

Well my son had very severe issues--no ability to either track or converge. He couldn't catch a ball, wouldn't steer a bike, or any number of things I never understood. We did vision therapy and it was a complete turn around in those areas. He can track (and read), can catch, started steering, and on. Most sup[rising to me his use of vision in interactions had a complete turn around in terms of gathering information from eye/face contact, interpreting facial cues he was getting, etc.

I don't regret it for a moment but it was incredibly hard and tedious work and the daily assignments you do at home are the important part of the program in my experience. We never missed one day that I remember of working. It was really hard and really worth it here.

My son still has some major visual processing "stuff" going on but now it's areas like visual spatial reasoning and manipulation and those types of things rather than the tracking and convergence we did the therapy to address.

My ds has just started VT. He's had 3 sessions so far so it is just too soon to see (no pun intended, ha!). He was "prescribed" one session per week for 9 months.

He has tracking, as well as focusing issues. He also is doing OT. He started that in March and in the past month or so we have begun to see subtle yet significant changes.

Is this being done through a developmental optometrist (aka behavioral optometrist?)
