My eyesight is terrible and its driving me insane.

My opthamologist is less than forthcomeing- he's just a cranky old dude. Good- but old and cranky.

seriously.

I seem to have regions of grey fuzz. Its hard to pinpoint them. I feel like I'm losing my sight- and the doc doesn't seem concerned. I'm 32, and I've had glasses since 4th grade- my myopia continues to worsen.

Are the areas of gray fuzz perhaps floaters? I have them and some days they bother me more than others.

You could try switching doctors if you don't feel like yours is listening to you.

If you're looking for a totally different perspective, I'd find a doctor of Chinese Medicine. TCM links vision health to liver health (in the TCM sense, not in the failing a liver function panel way). I found it interesting since my near-sightedness kicked in when other stresses on my health started--stresses that weren't eye-related, but have ended up to be liver-related.

Mmm, areas of grey fuzz and your doc is okay with that? I wouldn't be comfortable w/ that lack-of-diagnosis. My intermittent vision loss ended up being my first sign of MS. It took about a year for anyone to make the connection.

Hmmm... that's a possibility. I don't have the money right now to do any alternative health care, but I will look into that the first chance I get.

It was over a year ago thart I saw him, and at the time, I couldn't pinpoint what was wrong. I just told him that things felt wrong, like my eyes weren't working together, or something like that. I do know about the cataract, but now, there seems to be a more specific 'wrongness' related to a fuzzy greyness that wasn't there before. I have astigmatism in both eyes, and multiple 'floaters'.

I am hoping that when I start taking Diatomaceous Earth the floaters resolve, but this feels like something unrelated to the cataract, floaters, or astigmatisms.

I am seriously scared I'm going blind. Right now there's no money for an eye exam or anything, so I'll have to wait.

find the money for an exam(with a different dr). So many vision problems can be fixed, but waiting can lead to preventable blindness.

Vision problems can be related to genetics, underlying illnesses, side effects to medication...any number of things.

I would seek a second opinion.

I agree with most of the other posters. Go in. Find someone else.

I started having "floaters" and thought it was because I always had bad eyes (I have extreme near sightedness and have since I was in 3rd grade). I went to have it checked out, and found out that I actually had tears in my retina due to the retina starting to detach. Had I not gone in, it would have fully detached, which results in blindness. Instead, I went in, they did this laser surgery thing (about 30 minutes long, you can go home right after), and they fixed the tears.

So yeah, not something to mess around with.

Ok. I'll go in as soon as possible.

Maybe I can get them to do a payment plan?

Sigh.....

Yes, it was a sign of MS for me also. Ask them to look at your optic nerve. He can see it just looking in your eye with the ophthalmoscope.

OK, I will do that!
