Flip laundering and overnight diapering

My Flip stay-dry inserts always seem to smell musty lately and seem stiffer than they used to. I use vinegar in my cold/cold pre-rinse and recently switched to washing with Dr. Bronner's. Was this a bad idea?? Or could it be something else, like hard water or the dryer? (We just moved into a new home with a very musty stinky basement.)

I'd suggest looking for a better detergent. Stay dry inserts have microfiber and microfiber is pretty temperamental. We had stink issues until I switched to a detergent designed for cloth diapers and hard water (rockin green hard rock). It works MUCH better and no more stinkies!

I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the advice!

I use Flips - both the stay-dry & the cotton liners.

Laundry: I use Tide Free & Gentle liquid filled to the 1st line; hot wash, cold rinse, hot rinse (wash with no more detergent added), cold rinse. Although I think I need to add in a cold pre-wash. We did have stinkies, but I started using more detergent & they're fine now.

Overnight: 2 stay-dry inserts placed back to back (no idea if this is "correct", just tried it & it worked) worked for us for awhile - I think it only ever leaked once. Right now he's in disposable at night b/c he kept waking up crying about his diaper. I think the wetness was keeping him awake. I may try to go back to cloth at night sometime.
