Outdoor to Indoor Cat

My cat used to terrorize our neighbour. She is scared of cats and he would occasionally traipse into her house for a visit. We thought he had gotten over his little visits. We always let him in when we see him outside. Leave the door open most of the time.

But today he crawled in her window, started playing with the cords of her brand new, flat screen tv (a week old) and knocked it down. Cracked the screen. Totally not repairable. So we will obviously be replacing the tv, but I cannot afford him to be doing this again.

Does anyone have any tips for keeping my outdoor cat in?

No advice, but I want to thank you for making that decision! I strongly believe that pet cats should be kept indoors, or outdoors only with supervision, for their protection and the safety/health of the neighborhood.

Is your kitty fixed? If not, I would you encourage you to do so quickly to help discourage the need to "prowl".

Lots of places to sit by windows watch outside. If you have a window that has a tree close by, you can buy one of those window perches for kitty to sit on.

Lots of cuddles and hugs to reinforce how *awesome* being indoors is.

Thats all I have for now. One of my 4 kittys was an outdoor cat when we adopted her. She kept trying to sneak out after we brought her home, but realized it wasnt happening and soon stopped trying. (But, we still have a collar and tag on her, to be safe)

Good luck!!
