I read recently that around 100 changes to the components of artificial formula are made *every year* as manufacturers attempt to make it closer to breastmilk - a 100% match just isn't possible because we don't know everything that's in it - and even if we did, it most likely couldn't be replicated. It is vital that improvements continue to be made to make formula as safe as it possibly can be - and at the same time, more efforts are made into enabling more mother/baby dyads to breastfeed since despite our best efforts, formula just doesn't come close.
