Boy nature elements names

Ok, I was wrong. It is not a girl, it is a boy. So there goes my nice "Leilani Ocean" for a girl. HA!

Since my son's name is Aiden which means "little fire", I was thinking of picking another name that is an "element" (not in the chemistry sense). I want to try and combine this with a hawaiian name too. I only have about 20 weeks to figure this out. Yikes!

ANY suggestions? You guys gave me awesome options for a girl, now I need some lists for boys to work through.....

I love love love the name Kelvin (would have been DD1s name if she were a boy... was the name of an Uncle of mine)

Kel and Kelly are good nicknames for it (or vinny if you live in NJ lol)... and it means Narrow Water.

Plus I think Aiden and Kelvin go together pretty well!

Here are a few names I really really like!

Amari: Derived literally from the element 'amari' which means strength
Ari: lion; enlightened, exalted, mountain of strength; lion of God; brave; visible, clear; best, excellent; excellent kind; excellent purpose
Devin: poet; fawn; little dark one
Galen: calm
Jeton: life
Warren: protector, game park, reserve

And here is just one of many places you could spend a lot of time searching for a name you like.

Best of luck! Have fun!

I love baby names threads! So I'm not sure if you meant you wanted only Hawaiian names with elemental meanings or just elemental names and then combine that with a Hawaiian name as well. Anyway, here are some basic elemental names. I hope this helps! I even found one that is Hawaiian AND elemental. Nice, huh? :P

Earth Element Names

Adam - of the earth (hebrew)
Ajax - of the earth (greek)
Terran - of the earth (terra is italian for earth)

For earth names, you can also go with tree, rock, land animal names like Forrest, Alder, Onyx, Basil, Heath, Rowan, etc.

Air Element Names

Knoton - wind (native american)
Skye - as in up there :P
Zephyr - west wind (greek)

Water Element Names

Beckett - dwells by the brooke (english)
Calder - from the wild water (scottish)
Kai - ocean (hawaiian) extra points! :P
Nen - ancient water (egyptian)
Rain/Rayne/Raine
Rio - river (spanish)

I like Kelvin. What do you think of Jordan? (I know some people have begun to use it as a girl name too though)

Kenneth

Anglicized form of both COINNEACH and CINÁED. This name was borne by the Scottish king Kenneth (Cináed) mac Alpin, who united the Scots and Picts in the 9th century. It was popularized outside of Scotland by Sir Walter Scott, who used it for the hero in his novel 'The Talisman' (1825). A famous bearer was the British novelist Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932), who wrote 'The Wind in the Willows'.

If he ever goes into any kind of science he will not appreciate Kelvin. Kelvin is a tempertaure scale (like Celsius or Farenheit) that is commonly used in the physical sciences.

Ferris, for iron?

I like Kelvin. I don't think most people know what it is unless you travel in pretty geeky circles.

OMG

If I was a boy I was going to either be Bruce Wayne lastname or Adam West lastname.

This might be why the universe gave my dad four girls and no boy.

I cant think of any beyond Kai. That seems to me the best fit.

Dante?
Nemo?

Uhm, I am not sure about Kelvin. Honestly, more because I have an engineer background and I would NEVER hear the end of that!

I was thinking of Kai. I also found a list that said "moss" meant from the water. Moss is a family name, so that would be cool too. Our last name is Chinese and single syllable, so that complicates things too.

So, what I was thinking is that since Aiden is the "fire" name, I could find a nice name to represent either "air", "water", or "earth". Terran is nice. Terran Kai?

What should I google to get some good lists? I have a feeling this is going to take me a while.

oooh....LOVE Calder.

Someone suggested Ferris for iron and it reminded me: My name has been considered the element of iron: Farren. I've bet more boys with the name than girls, but they usually spell it Faron.

Apparently this is a unisex name:

Lani (hawaiian, meaning sky/heaven)

One thing you can do is go to www.behindthename.com. Then in search, you put in "air" (water, sky, whatever...) and click the radio button for "Search for words in meaning".

That'll give you a starting list for each. Then if you click on the name itself, to the right of the meaning is a box whicn contains links, one of which is "Related Names". Clicking on that will give you another list of names related to/drived from the first name, often in different languages.

It's at least a place to start!

Now that is an earthy, crunchy name!

OP, I like Terran Kai. That sounds lovely.

Oh, I like Calder.

You were going to use Ocean for a girl middle name. It would also work for a boy. I worked in a preschool with a student named Ocean one time. He was such an awesome kid!

I used to date a guy named Pila. Hawaiian name meaning music, I believe.
