I'm looking for a good parenting book on raising girls--confident, secure daughters. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

Reviving Ophelia is focused more towards raising adolescent girls, but is sooooo worth a read here and there over the years. I love all of her books, actually.

Check with your local librarian- most libraries have great reading lists for all sorts of things, including raising strong girls.

Here's a list of recommended books on Amazon for a keyword search for "raising strong, spririted girls;" it's mostly books for said girls to read on their own, and.or for read-aloud time.

I've enjoyed reading Girls will be Girls by Joan Deak so far.

Raising an American Girl: Parenting Advice for the Real World by Therese Maring is a new book put out by American Girl. It is very helpful, discussing friends and bullying, encouraging your daughter to shine academically and find her passions. If you are not offended that it is put out by a commercial enterprise, it is a great book and an easy read.

I haven't actually read it, but my DH bought "Raising Girls" by Gisela Preuschoff, before DD was born. The back of the book says that it "addresses issues from infancy through young adulthood."

"Things Will Be Different For My Daughter"

It's a giant workbook that you go through. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and love it so far.
