waldorfy mamas - please talk to me about waldorf art

My kiddo seriously hates drawing and coloring. He has SPD that affects motor planning and control, AND he's a perfectionist. It's a winning combo.

Anyway, based on the very little bit that I know about Waldorf art (wet-on-wet painting, block crayons, form drawing), I'm starting to think that ds might really love this approach to artwork. How can I find out more about this? Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with Waldorf art as a part of their homeschool? Could you point me to some blogs or resources? I'm so longing to help my son produce some art that he can feel proud of. This is such a hard area for him.

Moved to Waldorf, because even though you're homeschooling, the Waldorf mamas here are a wealth of information. I hope you find the help you're looking for.

My daughter loves the wet-on-wet watercolor painting. She is a little on the perfectionist side and gets really pissed when she can't color "inside the lines" at grandma's house, but she really opens up and gets into it when I set her up to do wet-on-wet painting.

i think it does sound right up his alley.

personally, i would just learn a smidge about it, and then set him loose and see what happens. if it doesn't work out, no big deal. chances are, it will work out, and then you have something he can enjoy.

blessings.
