anyone ttc after IUD removal?

Hello,

I am 32 years old and planning on TTC #4 this fall. I plan to have my copper IUD removed in a few weeks. Has anyone else ttc after removal of an IUD? Did you start trying right away? I remember reading when I got the IUD that you could get pregnant right away.

Thanks!

Yes I actually started temping the week before I had it removed. I had mine removed May 3rd and not preggo yet, but i had to have drugs with my first pregnancy. I have always had fertility problems. If you are normally pretty fertile you can get pregnant immediately after having it removed. When I got mine removed I started a thread in the Pregnant forum and got tons of repsonses. I think 15 women responded and out of that 10 of them got pregnant within the first month. I would say to DTD every other day as soon as you get it removed, and you have a good chance of concieving. Good luck.

I will try to find that thread and post the link.

Ok so there were only about 7 first month pregnancies and then maybe like 4 2nd month and then about 6 people either had weird cycles or it took more than 3 months. But it also depends on your body and what kind of cycles you had before IUD.

Here is the thread. And this is mirena not the copper(which has no hormones i think) so you may start a new thread in the pregnancy forum.

Thanks for the URL. I really hope it will happen right away but it took a long time to conceive my last child. I just started AF and am going to start charting this cycle.

I had mine out in late Jan, and I'm still TTC. We got pregnant on our first try with DS, but we're on cycle 8 TTC this time. I don't think that has anything to do with the IUD at all, it's just taking longer this time.

My Mirena decided that it really wanted to see the world so it left on its own accord. After reading a lot about the crazy side-effects that some women experience while on Mirena (and vigorously nodding my head as I read most of them), I decided it wasn't such a tragedy after all.

Our little tribe decided to seize the opportunity and try again. The first month I missed the O-train because I was on vacation and didn't do the baby tango enough beforehand.

This month, we're wiaing to see if the skinny light line on the POAS is a BFP.

If it is, this would be a "GO" on the second cycle after the Mirena leaped to its watery grave.

However, it took forevvvvverrrr the first time TTC.

I had the copper IUD and pretty much started trying right after removal. It was removed mid-cycle, right before ovulation, and I didn't try that month. We did the following two months and got pregnant the second cycle of trying.

I had a copper IUD prior to DD. I removed it 7 cycles prior to conceiving her. That said, I have fertility issues as well. I think you're right, that, since you have the copper, once it is out, you're all clear.
Best of luck.
