Nose picking

Anyway to discourage this? My son seems to be digging in there so often that its almost anytime I look at him. UGH! I offer tissue and help him blow, but his fingers are back up there within minutes.

Tell him to go to the bathroom and do that in private... then wash his hands! Everyone nose picks... but no one wants to watch.

My boys just stopped doing it one day... with my first I tried to discourage it, it seemed to actually have the opposite effect. Most of the time now I just gently ask that they don't do it where I can see... "please go pick your nose in the bathroom." I think it's normal for kids to pick their nose, I actually feel it might have some immune boosting effects.

Yup. Send 'em to the bathroom and get them to wash hands afterwards. That's my approach anyway.

I dunno why I didn't ever think of telling him to go to the bathroom and do it. Anyway, he does it so much, he is going to be in there and awful lot.

I calmly reminded DD that she had to wash her hands if she put them in her nose. She got tired of having to stop and go wash her hands all the time.

I also taught her how to use a tissue to clean her nose.
