Anyone every get a POSITIVE at home and a NEGATIVE at the doctor's?

We've been ttc for 6 months...we were SHOCKED to finally see a BFP this morning! I did a 2nd test for reassurance and it was also a BFP. AF is due Aug 8, so I am 3 days before due date. I called OBGYN and they said to come in...the test at the office was NEGATIVE

Anyone ever had this? How did it turn out?

Thanks...still hoping

Drs tests are not as sensitive as home tests.

As long as the test you took was pink dye, I would not question it... go back in a week or two!

(this is VERY very very common and usually turns out fine!)

The tests you can buy in the store are more sensitive than the doctor's tests a lot of the time. That is - unless it's an evil blue dye test - those things get wicked false positives.

Yes, and I have the kid to prove it lol. Their test was wrong

Yep. They left me in the exam room for ten minutes and the doctor came back and very gently suggested to me that maybe I wanted a baby so badly that my eyes were playing tricks on me then sent me on my way.

The nurse called me back to tell me that she looked at the test again and it was positive. Faint, but positive. The blood test that the dr ordered to placate me agreed.

I am of the opinion that you should only do blood tests at the doctors. They use terrible pee tests, AND, your urine isn't as concentrated.

Yes it happened to me. So I tested the next day at home again and it was positive. My doc did a blood test and sure enough positive. Agreeing with everyone else get a pink dye test the ones from dollar tree are super sensitive.

Thanks for Making me Feel Better!

Well, I did not take a pink dye test, I took a digital EPT test. BUT...like I said, we've been trying 6 months, so this has not happened before. AND I took two tests.

Do you all still think the EPT digital is as fool-proof as the pink dye? Maybe I should go pick up a pink dye test tomorrow just to be sure...

Anyway, for now I'm going with all the mammas on here and saying a big YAY! I will call them again in a week and see what happens--THANK YOU for comforting me!

digital is as good as pink dye, you just want to avoid the lined tests with blue dye. They like to give very convincing lines when not pregnant (some DARK positive lines for women who never get a single positive on another test and get AF on time and if I remember correctly, once a woman had her hubby do it and they got a BFP too! LMAO)

So yeah, wait a week or two and go get tested again, their tests arent as sensitive and really... that week or two wont make a huge difference for most women. You are still pregnant!

I second stevi! Unless you are like 8 weeks, don't bother peeing on anything at the Drs.

When I was PG with DS, I needed a "proof of pregnancy" for insurance. The nurse actually told me that I "Must not be very pregnant, because the test was really light" You either are, or you aren't. There is no half pregnant!

Thats exactly what happened to me. The first time I went in they got a negative even though I got a positive at home. Then I went back at the end of the week and they said "you are barely pregnant"........................I was like what is that supposed to mean.

Not only did I have that happen but the doctor's BLOOD test was negative. With my first child I tested positive at home on 11dpo. I went to the doctor and they did a urine test - negative. So they ordered a blood test and called me a couple of hours later to tell me it was negative. I went out and bought more tests and continued to take them for the next couple of days - all positive. Obviously my tests were correct - he'll be 10 in January!

I think this happened to me a few months back. We saw a faint line on an hpt, and went in to the doc for a blood draw. They found no hcg. But...I would have miscarried, because it didn't result in a pregnancy. I did research at the time, and there is a lot of documentation about doctor's blood tests being wrong. Especially since they are subject to human error.
