flies!

my house is pretty clean, a little cluttered but certainly not dirty. we have flies everywhere all of a sudden! its so gross! what can i do about this? are there any preventative measures i should take? help!

ugh, it sounds nasty, but you have larvae somewhere. you need to find that and get rid of it. we had this happen a few months back & they were hiding under the food bowl in our mice cage (we clean it weekly, so this all happened within days). EWWWWW. there is definitely a "source" somewhere - you'll know because they will hang out and be aggressive when you're near the nest... look in places with moisture (i.e. where you keep your sponges by the sink, animal cages, laundry room, etc).

as for killing them, i found something online involving apple cider vinegar and syrup (i think that's right). you put it in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, but cut holes in the top. the flies will be able to get in but not out. google it for the exact recipe. it's failry easy to get rid of of them, so no worries.
