Share ideas for packing lunch at school - Page 2

I'm glad to see this thread since we are having issues with lunches too.
Last year was easier because they had access to a microwave. This year they do have a vegetarian hot lunch option daily provided by the school but my children are not used to buying lunch and haven't wanted to try it yet. The lunches look great so I'm hoping they will eventually buy lunch a couple of times/week. My children are l/o which provides more choices than vegan.

They eat a granola bar, Cliff bar, or Luna bar most days - not always the healthiest choice but the bars fill them up quite a bit and most provide protein.

My son also requests pinto beans mixed with salsa. He just eats it cold with a spoon.

My daughter loves any veggie dipped in vinaigrette - a bit of a mess but at least she is eating. After purchasing various stainless containers I've found the best container for this is called a 'little dipper'. I'm sure it is not BPA free but it doesn't leak and makes it easy for her.

Based upon the pp, I need to get Thermos' so they can take warm food.
I’m off to the grocery store with some of your ideas!

Veggie dogs on whole grain, sprouted buns
avocado & tofurky deli slices sandwiches
veggie gyoza (potstickers) from trader joes, with a bit of soy sauce on top
leftovers
bagels with tofutti cream cheese, slice of tomato, and spike seasoning
veggie "chicken" nuggets from trader joes (when desperate)

water flavored with lemons and basil

whatever fruit or snacky veggies we get in the CSA box, usually oranges (or tangerines, etc), apples (with cinnamon), plums, cherries, sugar snap peas, carrots.

edamame is always a hit, too.

occasionally some kind of cookie, tortilla chips (usually red hot blues), and I keep these silly apple sauce squeezie things from trader joes handy in case I'm out of fruit/ veggies.

We are an omni family, but I have enjoyed the ideas in this thread. We have a GoToob to that we use for putting dip in for veggies that has performed well so far. A slightly larger one would work for yogurt too.

GoToobs, awesome!

GoToob!? Are you kidding me? Where have these been for the past month when I was desparately trying to solve this Go-Gurt problem? Ha! Thanks so much for the tip! Now I have to go update my thread in the main Eating Forum.
