Talk me down!

Last night i almost set an alarm to wake and feed DD2.

She sleeps 5-7.5 hours every night, she's just 2months old.

I demand feed her, she has free access to the breast all day and night (we mainly co-sleep, though recently i've been putting her in the cot which is right up against my side of the bed, because she doesn't wake anyway). Last time we weighed her (2.5weeks ago) she was 10lbs11oz - having gained a kilo since birth (8lbs8oz at birth, with no weight loss at all).

She is really long, and in 3-6month clothes already because especially with a cloth nappy on the 0-3's are too short. On the chart in my book she'd dropped from just above to just below the 7th%ile for weight and was up around the 96th%ile for height. She's about 61cm long just now.

But she's so thin! She has no rolls except on her thighs, her wrists have a bit of fat but not the elastic band look. Her double chin has melted.

She tends to feed 2-hourly during the day and usually has a cluster of feeds in the evening. On average i put her to the breast about 10-12 times a day, but i don't really keep track to be honest. She is awake a lot in the day but very peaceful and calm, not crying. She sucks well, i hear her swallowing a lot, she has loads of wet and poopy nappies, she seems satisfied and content.

So WHY am i worrying? It's just i've never known a breastfed baby sleep 7 hours so soon - she's been doing it since 5 weeks. DH says "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and that DD1 was also a long skinny baby, even when i put her on formula.

Can someone remind me to trust my baby?!

Trust your baby . You said it - all the signs are there that she's doing just fine.
My 2nd child was like that, quite unlike his older sister who nursed every two hours round the clock! However, I have say that it didn't last forever, and he did experience sleep regressions later on.
Easier said than done, as I think we are hardwired to worry about our children, but hope you can enjoy the sleep!

Both my boys went to sleeping 6+ hrs a night at 6 weeks, scared the crap out of me the first time. It was like they just jumped from waking every 2-3 hrs to sleeping 6+, no transition inbetween. #1 (7lb 8oz at birth) was bottle fed #2 (9lb 13oz at birth) EBF. It's just genetics.

Count your lucky stars!! I wish my bebe would sleep through the night! She is 10 mos and still wakes up at least three times a night average. Trust your baby, if they are hungry, they wake up!!
