I HATE myself for not having said something!

After I got my 7 month old DD ready for bed, I took her to the livingroom so she could say goodnight to Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa kissed her on the lips (he's not funny in any way).
We don't kiss her on the lips because of germs and because we wouldn't want to be kissed on the lips by our parents, and I'm not so much upset about the fact that he kissed her on the lips, or about the germ factor, I'm really ANGRY at myself that I didn't say anything. This is not the first time that I kept my mouth shut on an issue that is important to me. What is wrong with me?!?!
What should I have said? How can I be more assertive next time?
I can always think of 100 things to say after the fact!! LOL

To be honest, I probably wouldn't have said anything either. But maybe next time you can say something like "Grandpa, want to give baby a peck on the cheek before bedtime?"

If it continues, and it really bothers you, than saying something when a kiss is not imminent is probably best - try to bring it up, like "I was talking to my pregnant friend the other day about kissing babies, and I was telling her about how I don't like anyone kissing my baby on the lips because I want to protect her from germs." Or something like that, you know?

If it squicks you out, just casually tell him you'd rather he kissed the cheek. Is it your dad or your fil?

I'm forty and I still kiss my dad on the lips. My mom always preferred cheek kisses and dad always did lip kisses, just a quick peck.

My son is a cheeker, and dd is a "lipper", so everyone has their preference.

Good luck, please don't feel uncomfortable about talking to him. You and your feelings are what's important here.

maybe you can say next time"grandpa I think she's too young for lip kisses, you know germs" I don't really know though but he'll never know unless you say something.We do lip kisses but once saviel got a little older daddy and grandpa switched to cheek kisses, some kind of male thing I suppose.
