How do you feel about gluten in the oven?

I hate gluten and have severe reactions to it. I can't even eat oats. I moved here to have a gluten free kitchen but then dh lost his job and we got a roommate who eats gluten. He eats frozen pizzas all the time and I've been making him cook on tin foil. In all honestly I don't cook on the bars anyway. He complains how his pizzas are yuck without it being on the bars so I finally said whatever.

Am I gonna die now? :P

Seriously will the gluten on the rack somehow get into my gluten free cooking? I know I shouldn't go into restaurants that say make their own pizzas or tortillas and there's flour in the air but snorting flour seems different than cooking next to it. I could be wrong.

So is it ok to cook on the rack when I am cooking gluten free inside the same oven (using pan or cookie sheet). I can promise you he will not be scrubbing the oven after he uses it probably ever.

And if this sounds silly, I get severely ill, like screaming to God ill if I get contaminated. At one point in my life I couldn't even lift a glass of water the gluten had wreaked havok on me so bad.

I think it depends on how sensitive you are. When we turned GF, I didn't clean our oven and we never had a problem, and there were a couple fairly low-level x-con issues that we did have. But this summer we visited my mom and the first time she turned on her oven, it smelled like bread--I mean the whole kitchen smelled like baking bread. But she does regularly bake bread, it isn't just heating up gluten-containing foods.

If you do react, I'd suggest he buy a toaster oven--do they come big enough for pizzas? Or at least he can use a different rack--maybe you swap them out for your baking? Don't know if that would be enough, but it would be more separation. I hope it's not a problem at all.

I cook gluten in the oven, and my DS and I are pretty sensitive. I don't cook our stuff at the same time as the gluten stuff (for instance pizza). At least it's frozen pizza so he's not throwing around flour. But I like tanya's idea of a toaster oven for his stuff (and make him buy it).
