goat's milk for 8 month old?

I am a 100% BFING mama.

I do, however, have an occasion on Saturday night that I cannot miss and want to have the bsitter give her a bottle of something before bedtime. I am a terrible pumper and would have to plan for a week in advance to get enough milk for this one feed. I do not want to use formula and frankly, don't want to use the nt recipe for infant formula.

I've heard some people give their babies goats milk--and I think it would be OK since it would just be this one bottle (she's not relying on it for 100% of her nutrition).

Is this OK? I have access to pasteurized goat's milk, but not raw.

Let me know, asap!!

I'd do it. At 8 months she may or may not be dabbling in other foods already anyway. One bottle to replace one feeding isn't going to harm her nutritionally, and goats milk is much better than cows as far as digestability. Has she ever had a bottle before? I'd worry more about her taking a bottle from the bsitter than what was in the bottle really. I don't think one formula feeding would hurt much either fwiw. However, my almost 8mo little girl is convinced that liquid coming from anything but my breasts must be poison, and I'm a good pumper and always have bm in the freezer for her. She just won't take it. DH is really glad that she's starting on solids so he has something he can give her when I'm working (2 mornings a month).

If it's just one bottle a week, and especially if it's more like one bottle a month, then it should be fine.

Better, though, would be to build up a small freezer stash- pump an ounce or so each day and freeze it, then you can always thaw some milk if an occasion comes up unexpectedly.
