ergo back carry sleep question

Ok, so my almost 6 mo 17 lb LO is finally happy in the ergo back carry. So happy that she now wants to spend most of the day there! (and that's generally ok by me.) The only thing I haven't quite figured out is how to get comfortable with her head position during naps. She seems to have her head tilted way back while she sleeps. Is that bad? I can't get the sleep hood up by myself once she's on my back - and if I have somebody help me, I worry about covering her face. Sometimes she seems to slip down pretty low, too, which makes me uneasy. I dunno. I mean, she's not a little baby anymore, and she has great head control, but I still worry about her not being able to breathe back there. I just wish I could see somebody with a similar-sized baby do this right. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

I have 23 pounder, but she is 2 . I find that it is better to try to get her lower in the ergo. When her head snaps back she usually corrects that herself. No, I do not think it is good to let them sleep thet way. We also give DD her little blankie when she falls asleep int he ergo. I really don;t think you need to worry about suffication at that age.

have you tried laying the baby down after she falls asleep? I have wonderful success laying my daughter back onto the bed and releasing her, then I pick her back up and lay her back on the bed off the ergo. I have been doing this for over 6 months for darn near every nap.

When we are out and about we use the hood. It is possible to put the hood on all by yourself you just have to get hte hang of it.

Do you have an older or newer Ergo? I ask because I have one of each, and I find that the sleep hood is much harder to reach on the newer version. I can't put the sleep hood up by myself on the new version. (At least, not without waking up the baby, which sort of defeats the point.)

The actual sleep hood is designed better on the new ones, once it is in use, but the straps are just too short for me to reach.

If I am by myself and he falls asleep, I ask a stranger to help me put the hood up.

As far as the face being covered, it isn't something I worry about once my babes are old enough to hold their head upright and have good neck control. He is never chin-to-chest in the Ergo. He naps a lot on my back, since about 5 months on, and I find it is perfectly safe.

Newer. Guess maybe I could just tie some ribbons on the end so I can reach them? We live in the middle of nowhere, so I don't usually even have strangers I can bother.

Yeah, she'll nap for 30 minutes if I lay her down, or an hour+ if I keep her in. Her head doesn't "snap" back, per se, just tilts backward and I don't know if it's bad, or how far is too far. I mean, maybe this is a dumb question, but what are the consequences of sleeping with the head tilted back? Somehow it doesn't feel right, but I don't know why.
