im pretty sure this is a diaper issue but if it sounds more like a health issue, please feel free to let me know or move the post....
this might be long but i want to be very thorough. i cannot tell if the rash/blister on my ds leg/testicles are because of 1) too hot or humid weather causing a hot sweaty diaper area 2) new detergent which i very much doubt 3) too tight diaper cover
i feel like its either 1 or 3. i noticed a small top-of-the-pencil eraser size red mark, kinda rashy looking on ds right thigh a few days ago. that night i washed his diapers in a completely new detergent (Planet) and the next day, his red mark turned into a blister
The tip of his penis was also very red, much redder than its ever been, and he has alot of overhanging foreskin so im pretty used to it getting red here and there, but this was not normal redness. It took me a few diaper changes to notice that there was a pencil eraser size size red dot on his testicles as well, and that if his legs were put together (making his testicles touch his leg) the blister and the red spot matched onto eachother like a puzzle.
what do you think? we have had regular diaper rashes, ammonia rashes, too much bleach rashes, not enough detergent rashes, and usually it affects an entire area. His butt is completely rash free.
I *think* it might be a bit painful for him, but he doesnt like me to wipe him ANYWAYS - its always a struggle to wipe him (homemade wipes w/ water) so i cant tell if its because it hurts or because he is being a bear
ive been putting cornstarch (i know, lots of people are so against it, they can inhale it, i know) to soak up sweat, if thats the problem, but the blister, although a little more closed now, and not so shiny, hasnt started to go away.
so what do you think? - diaper cover too tight? hot weather? anyone have any BTDTs? thanks so much!
ETA: we have been going coverless all day at home since the blister showed up, he wears GMD prefolds that we pin, no trifolding, prefolds are a good size, its the thirsties cover (size medium) thats im worried about. he wears a large Aristrocrats wool cover for nighttime.
