for those that DON'T use a diaper sprayer...

what do you do with awful, sticky poo diapers?

We do have a sprayer, and DS gives it a run for its money with huge, thick toddler poos that don't just "shake off." I'm going to visit family across the country, and I'd like to avoid using disposables. But, of course the diaper sprayer won't be coming along with me.

Is there a toilet-dunking-free way to manage poo diapers? I'll be washing in a front-loader, so I do need them pretty rinsed off before a wash.

Most of the poo has to come off the diaper when you shake it in the toilet (if not, use toilet paper to kinda wipe it off) and then rinse it in the sink.

I could never handle toddler poo diapers without a sprayer either. They do have disposable liners, though, that you can put in the diaper and toss when they poop. I think they can also go through the wash a few times, so if they pee, you wash and reuse.

My kid has these glue-poos as well. They do NOT shake off. I've had a diaper sprayer ordered from Franklin Goose on backorder since April, but at this point I don't expect to ever see it....so

Ya gotta swish them in the toilet. Its gross but it works. My kid's diapers take up to three flushes to get properly poo free. My husband prefers the spatula, but that is a tough thing to bring with you while traveling! Personally I find the spatula method .

You're gonna pet poo on your hands if your kid poos as much as mine . Just a warning.

When we were without our diaper sprayer for a few days I shook as much into the toilet as I could. Then I used toilet paper to scrape. Disgusting, but effective.

Rice paper.

We now have perfect baseballs of poo which roll of the diaper cleanly without leaving a trace. But...it wasn't always that way. I kept meaning to buy a sprayer but never got around to it. So I'd drop the diaper in the toilet "face" down and leave it there for a while. Then I'd pinch the centre of it to hold on and flush the toilet. The force of the flush pulls all the poop off (loosened from the soak). Then roll carefully with "clean" side out and wring out the excess water and throw in the can. Yes, my hands were right in the toilet water but that's life as a mum in my house. I have a FL too and this method got them plenty clean in advance of washing.

Thankfully, when we visit family we always have our own bathroom. I wouldn't leave a diaper to soak in a shared bathroom - I'd probably use disposable liners in that case.

Great suggestions... I think I'll be able to swing it! Thank you.
