Kipper, it's awesome, totally low key and mild, if they are going to watch a show at this age...it's the one to pick.

Oswald...it is the perfect show for a 2 yr old. I am so into it....I watch it without DS! And I feel like I am the only one who knows about it. It is on Nick Jr at 8 am and 4 pm

We started watching Kipper around 2, love it. Little Bear is also the bomb, but DS couldnt get into it until about 2.5.

So far we are really liking Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.   It is educational and the characters are kind to each other and it focuses on problem solving skills

Another vote for Kipper and Oswald! thumb.gif

Toot & Puddle.

I'm always surprised that so few people watch it or know about it.  We're very fond of the books and I've found the TV show to be just as sweet and gentle as the books.  There's no violence, no sassy talk, the colors are soft and not overly garish, there's always a nice message and it's a bit educational too.

The show(and books)are basically about two pigs who live in the woods with a bunch of animal friends.  One of the pigs LOVES to travel and the other is a homebody.  Because of the traveling, there's usually another country or culture featured.  Diversity rocks!

Anyway, I highly recommend the TV show.  It's the only one my DD watches.

For 2, I'd say "Blue's Clues", "Caillou", "Barney", "Dora the Explorer", "Jack's Big Music Show", and "Little Bear".  Actually, Jack's Big Music Show reminds me that at 2 (and still at 3), our DD's favorite DVD was a Laurie Berkener Band DVD.. .that and the Mommy and Me sing-along DVD.  Oh, DD also loves "Max and Ruby".

My kids like "Toot and Puddle", but to me, the story lines seem a bit advanced for that age.

DS loves Elmo and the sesame street gang- you can even get some of the older content on DVD- I think its called "Old School" and I think there are 2 volumes out now. They are just clips rather than whole episodes and DS seems to prefer this format. He is 23 months.  http://www.amazon.com/Sesame-Street-School-Vol-1969-1974/dp/B000H6SY8C

He LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba but I can't watch it. The flashing lights and bright colors make me feel queasy after a short while. I can't imagine it could be good for tiny brains..

He seems to like Word World ok. I can sort of get behind that one but I still find it irritating.

Pretty much the only kids show I don't find irritating is sesame street. Calliou, Barney, Dora and Thomas are banned here because I can't take them.

He likes Pocoyo too. Oh, and he is in LOVE with Tarzan, The Jungle Book, Toy Story and Finding Nemo.  All movies that I don't mind watching over and over and over. lol.gif

Adding that when DS1 was around 2 1/2, he really liked "Play With Me Sesame." It's old school Sesame Street characters like Bert & Ernie, Grover, Big Bird. No Elmo, which I liked. It's a 30 min show of mainly songs, shorts and some basic skill introduction.

His favorite shows now, at 4, are Imagination Movers and Magic School Bus.

Our absolute favs are The Magic School bus, Bill Nye the Science guy, David the Gnome ( you can get these for free at tv-vault.me) AND number 1, Lazy Town. The last is harder to find, but the best kids show ever. The superhero is a vegetarian athlete and the show is really happy, has great music and insults junk food. Nick has no released the show, but you can google search and find the entire series uploaded on some sites.

Pocoyo, Word World, old Sesame Street. They do like Caillou and Backyardians too but I can't really stand those shows maybe an episode once in a great while. Actually we don't have TV so we watch off the internet. They also LOVE The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (the original I think 1966 version) and old Busy World of Richard Scarry. Old disney movies are a hit too but they do have some bits not so much for 2 yr olds. Also Peter Rabbit and all the other stories too. A lot of the older shows are a lot better than the new takes IMO. Although Disney's Ocean and Planet Earth are really good too.

DS loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse*, Winnie the Pooh, Thomas, Barney*... *favorites  He also likes the Wonder Pets, but I hate that one.

Found Kipper on Netflix instant watch and DS was laughing his bum off. Its a little boring for adults, but not flashy or violent or anything else objectionable for that age. DS was trying to imitate the brittish accents. "keepa" he was calling it.

My personal favorite, and the kids love it too, is Timmy Time.  It is so cute, but there is no talking, just music and animal sounds.  They also like Special Agent Oso and I can't quite figure out why.  We steer clear of Yo Gabba Gabba although they love it- it is just too creepy for me.

ETA: We love Jack's Big Music Show too.
