Mama cloth for postpartum?

I was looking at using Hag Rags but I have no idea how many I will need.
I bled a lot after having DS1 (PPH) and I bled for a long time. I mean there was blood on everything, it was bad.
So I need an idea of how many of each size I need (I'd like to continue using them once my period returns) especially for postpartum.
I also have no idea how many times you would change them or anything like that. I'm a mama cloth virgin.

Input? Thanks!

I was a mama cloth virgin too, and used them for the first time PP with my second. And I don't know why, but I had WAY less bleeding this time around. I bled less, and for less time (about half the amount of time actually). I got mine from Tree Hugger (she's either on HC or etsy or both maybe ). I have 2 kids in cloth, so I figured I'd be doing laundry ever other day. So then I figured, after the super heavy flow of the first couple days, I'd need 6-ish pads plus one overnight pad each day. And they can be pricey, so I didn't want to overbuy KWIM? So, a dozen regular/heavy absorbancy and 2 overnight pads did the trick for me. And my son was born at 6pm, and by 6pm the next day I tried out the cloth and they worked fine. As far as how many you need in a day, it depends on how often you like to change them. If you change them every time you go to the bathroom, then you need that many, etc. Good luck, I think they were totally worth it. Way better than the disposables I used with my first.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for! I'm hoping that I bleed less this time. I bled for 8 weeks last time and it was bad. I plan on consuming placenta this time too, to help with the bleeding..so maybe that'll make a difference.

I personally would suggest that you try and stick to more natural, breathable materials. My favorite types of pads are those that use wool as a waterproof barier rather than fleece (which isn't as breathable) or PUL (not breathable). I really like Pink Lemonade Pads (etsy) and Zen Moon Pads (Hyenacart). They are both amazing to work with and will do custom orders if they have the time. I used cloth for my last PP and loved them. I also use cloth pads regularly for cycles. I'm currently pregnant (due in 6 weeks) and plan to use cloth again. I've never had a problem using the wool, even for the REALLY heavy, clotted cycle I had for my first post-partum moontime (the first period I had after having my son--at 18 months PP). I needed about 4 Heavy/overnight pads (or Post-Partum pads), 4-5 medium/heavy pads, and then a bunch of liners for when the blood trails off, but may return with light activity (for me around 6 weeks PP, if I got up to do some housework and didn't rest, I might have some light flow return and the liners helped protect my underwear). Also, liners helped with any urine leakage in those later healing days.

I hope this helps! Blessings for your birth and beyond

Thank you!!! I was steering clear of wool because I heard it's hard to take care of?
