How effective is consuming placenta for preventing/dealing with PPH?

I'm a little over 35 weeks pregnant now and I am planning a UC. I am wanting to be prepared for PPH but I have read so many different things as being recommended for after the birth to help prevent or deal with heavier bleeding.

I have read about the benefits of consuming the placenta, and in fact did so after the birth of my second son, but not until the day after the birth. This time I am planning on consuming some raw right away, and probably more in a smoothie as well as putting some between my cheek and teeth (I've read about it being absorbed faster that way).

How effective is this compared to herbal tinctures for PPH? If I actually do have a hemorrhage I will transfer to the hospital but I would like to prevent that from happening.

Thoughts? Does anyone know how actually effective it is?

I think this is hard to answer directly because there are many reasons for WHY you could be hemmoraging. But assuming your uterus needs a little boost hormonally, putting a small *raw* piece of placenta against your cheek is usually really effective.

As for placenta vs tincture...I'd probably go with placenta myself, but only because it's been used for ages upon ages with pretty great success.
