We are planning a homebirth as well. Make sure you talk with many midwives over twins and their plan and policies and experience.

You may find a switch in providers is necessary for your comfort levels. I love my current midwife but I am also looking around because ultimately I'm not feeling that comfy with her lack of experience with twins and a few other things.

Good luck!

My midwife is very experienced with twins, which was a bonus! They should have three attending you. One for each baby and one for you. It might be that one of them is the apprentice, but they would more then likely have an experienced apprentice with.

the midwife i had planned on going to isnt all that experience in general but she always has another more experience midwife present with her at delivery do you think thats good enough? Or should i look else where?

I think that if you are comfortable with your team, then it will be great! Most of the time, twin births are very straight forward.

Check out the "Parenting Muliples" board here, many of us have had our twins at home. Mine was a wonderful experience too. Here's my birth story:

Good luck with yours!

We are having a homebirth with our twins as well. This will be our 4th homebirth, one of those which was unassisted. OUr midwife is newly licensed and as No experience with twins at all. Not even in her years of training and apprenticeship did she get to experience a homebirth. I dearly love her though and after much talking and honesty on my husband's, mine and her end we all feel a very definite peace with it. If it were only her in attendance we might have a problem but she is calling in 2 other midwives, both of which have extensive twin experience. As pretty standard from what I have seen, we'll have a midwife for me and one for each baby present, then at least 2 assistants. I feel pretty special and honored to be her 1st twin experience. It definitely creates a bond. But I also feel comfortable and more at peace with it due to the fact we will have others present that do have lots of twin experience. We are very excited! Our 1st twin pregnancy was a nightmare due to the medical profession. It's exciting being able to have the chance to do it over again and really enjoy the pregnancy this time and the miracle of carrying two babies.

I have since found a midwife with twin experience as well as an extensive nursing background prior to becoming a homebirth midwife, so i feel very safe and happy to have someone like her

first pregnancy was twins. Delivered at home at 40 weeks 3 days. Perfect. Wouldn't want it any other way.
