Pinning and Bikini Twist on a Boy?

Ok, 2 kind of random questions...

1. My youger son has a horrible rash and really sensitive skin so I'm trying to keep him in just a PF but my pinning is horrible.. any tips?

2. Said sensitive skinned child gets irritated skin from everything, including diaper rubbing between his legs. I want to try the bikini twist fold because it seems like it would reduce bulk between his legs, how does one do this fold on a boy? Does it work?

TIA!

I don't like that fold because I can never get it to look comfortable but I think with a little practice it seems like it may let more air flow through. I would try to keep his boy parts in the pouch that it makes with the twist a little higher if that is possible. As far as pinning goes what part are you having trouble with? (too much fabric to go through? Pins not sliding through or getting caught?)

I live snappis. When I first tried one I was only pinning and hated them but then I tried again like a yr later and I love them. Have you tried them?

1) put your finger where the pin is going through, so if any accidents happen, you poke your finger instead of your ds i also noticed it doesnt matter how horribly i pin him when he is wearing a cover, as long as the diaper doesnt fall apart. but when i leave my ds coverless, pinning does matter, and i usually just have to make sure the diaper is on very snug.
also, invest in really good pins. the ones from babies r us are horrible IMO, i got some nameless ones at my local cloth diaper store, and they slide through the dipe like magic

2. ive used this fold on my ds. i think youre making it more difficult than it is just twist, pull up around LO, check to see that his parts are in the pouch, and pin! ta da!

I can get the pins in but I can't get it good enough that it stays tight once he starts moving around! I usually snappi but when he is going coverless I would prefer to pin, just because it seems more secure. How do you get the diaper pinned on tight enough for them to move around wtihout it falling off?

for going coverless, i usually pin one side with him laying down, then stand him up and pin the next side as tight as it needs to be. i dont know why it doesnt stay on tight when i pin him laying down
