they are in Hampstead rather than Wilmington but it is who I am using (I live all the way up in Jacksonville and they are willing to do a homebirth for me!)

They are a CNM and a CPM... very knowledgeable and sweet.

i would like to hear what you have to say about them as no one i know locally has experience with anything other than hospitals.

I LOVE Olivia and Meredith they are just... awesome.

They have no problem with me bringing my 5 and 7 year old to appointments (the office is a sun room in Olivias VERY nice home, very natural and comfortable to be there) They have toys for the kids to play with, a doll house and wooden train set for one.

Very okay with not doing most testing... my diabetes test was having a protein packed breakfast and having a finger prick and glucometer check (and hemoglobin visual check)

In case of GBS positive we do a wash rather than antibiotics (unless I have a fever or my water is broken for too long, etc. things that really would require the antibiotics, rather than using them as a preventative)

I feel very comfortable with them as, although they have worked at the military hospital here at Camp LeJeune, they are much more natural and non-medicinized... but very well educated to spot issues. They are not pushy, do not make me uncomfortable at all and are very okay with me making my own choices.

All in all I give them a big A+... they came recommended by another MDC mommy and a friend of mine who birthed with them at the Naval Hospital on LeJeune.

FWIW, I do know that she accepts some types of insurance, I am not sure what all and I know she cannot accept my tricare (its a big mess about how she was a hospital midwife and is now homebirth)

But her rate, if you have no insurance or an insurance that will not pay for her, is very reasonable.

Midwives in Wilmington

There are also 3 CNM's affiliated with CAHEC in Wilmington, who deliver at NHRMC. Hospital birth only.
