You can make 'microwave' popcorn without buying the stuff from the store. Just take 1/3 cup of regular popcorn kernals and pour them into a regular brown lunch sack. Fold the top down a couple of times and put two staples in it to secure (don't worry about the metal. Its not enough to cause any problems.) Lay it flat side down with the kernals as flat as possible on the bottom. Micro for +/- 2 minutes (depending on your microwave.) That's it. Tastes as good as stove top (and believe me, I was a skeptic until I tried it) and is incredibly easy. Add a little salt if you like... or butter... or just eat it. I feel like its a completely healthy treat and enjoy it all the time, especially in summer when its 100 degrees and stovetop popping sounds like heat torture.
(My brother shared this method with me after reading or watching Elton Brown?)
Oops... now I feel like a dork. I didn't read the previous post all the way through to see it was already mentioned. Sorry!
