Totally random question, I know, but maybe someone knows the answer. We're moving to TX next year and DS will be in 1st grade. I've found three public virtual schools in TX and none of them start till 3rd grade. We absolutely cannot afford to pay $5-6,000 for the year's tuition. So our choices will be regular public school or traditional homeschooling, neither of which I'm thrilled about.

Does anybody know why public virtual schools are not available until 3rd grade in Texas? Is there some kind of Texas-specific law about it or something?
