Poop "eating through" Undies?

Thread Starter
I am potty training my 3.5 yo boy. He's had problems with "toddlerhood" diarrhea. Recently he has had a few accidents and I noticed after washing the undies (like i would my cloth diapers) that his poop (which wasn't diarrhea) totally ate through his undies and destroyed them... like acid ate through them... Weird huh!
Any thoughts on how to keep htis from happening? Or, why his poop would be so acidy?

I can't claim to know anything about toddler poo, because my only daughter isn't quite 10 mos yet. However, I have heard a few things about poop in general that I thought of when reading this post: First, if you've ever read "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron (and if you haven't, it's such an awesome book!), she says that making sure your baby/toddler eats yogurt everyday will help prevent diarrhea. I've gotta say, we give our DD yogurt for lunch every day and she has NEVER had it. Also, looking into probiotic foods and/or drink can help balance the alkalinity in your LO's body. I would probably ask your pediatrician about it.
