Milk substitutes

Thread Starter
I suspect my 12 month old daughter's ear infections may be related to milk. We want to transition her off of formula and were going to go to whole milk but now, with four ear infections in the past six months, I want to go dairy free and see if that helps.

What would you momma's suggest we go to? Almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, something else???

TIA!

We use coconut milk, the SoDelicious brand unsweetened but it does have other ingredients in it other than coconut milk (like guar gum and carrageenan) so if your DD is sensitive to those things it might not work...

Personally I like almond milk better than rice milk (texture wise, it's thicker). But my DS can't have almond so we use rice milk sometimes, and coconut milk sometimes, depending what it's for.

There are lots of options out there now....Coconut milk and Almond milk are my personal top picks for flavor. Hemp milk is also a very good milk substitute if you like the flavor of it....high in protein and fats. Soy and Rice milks in moderation are okay, but shouldn't be consumed in large amounts. Also, there is oat milk, hazelnut milk, etc.

Due to various other restrictions, we're limited to rice or hemp milk. Hemp has a very distinctive flavour. I really enjoyed coconut milk when we could have that though.
