Floral tape, very sticky - need help.

I am making baby sock roses for a co-workers who is pregnant, I have been wanting to make these for a while and just need a reason.

I've gotten the socks rolled and know how to to that but now that I am trying to wrap the "flower" and stem the floral tape is very sticky, unpleasantly so. It's been many years since i last worked with floral tape but I don't remember it being gluey sticky, just stick to it's self sticky. After just a few minutes of using the floral tape my fingers are gluey, gummmy sticky. The floral tape sticks more to me that itself and they I end up sticking to everything. It's very gross.

I can't imagine it will be any fun for mom to be to have to take these apart so she can use the socks, all the while getting all sticky.

Any thoughts? Is this norrmal?

I'd return it and get some more. I think the stuff you have is deteriorating.

Yes you need new tape.

there are differnt "sticky" levels, at least at my craft store there is. I usually get the low tack kind which Im thinking is what would work best, I've done similar projects and its just enough tack to hold together (you will need several turns around it though)
