Bees

What is the thinking on bee hives - destroy or leave alone? We have a hive in our yard that isn't bothering us but seems to freak out the neighborhood dog walkers... Seems that it would be neighborly to have it destroyed but I hate to kill bees that really aren't bothering anyone. The hive is in a part of the yard that doesn't boarder any other neighbor's homes but is along a sidewalk...

Thoughts are appreciated!

Honeybees or yellow jackets? If it is yellow jackets, nuke the sucker! If it is honey bees, call your local apiarist and have someone come & relocate it. With the sad state of our honeybee population these days, every one of those bees needs to be protected.

I agree with the PP. Most fire-stations should have a list of beekeepers that are ready, willing, and able to take away the hive...
