Stevia

What are your all's thoughts on using stevia? I did a bit of research and I am thinking it might work for me. I do not use fake sugar but this isnt fake from what I can tell it comes from a plant like sugar cane and is only removed from it like cane sugar.

What do you all think of it though?

I use it daily. I like it in beverages (green tea and hot cocoa) but I don't think it works well in most recipes- unless it's being used for only part of the sweetener. DD1 and DS don't like the taste so I don't use it in anything for the whole family- I just add it to my own cup.

I found some at the store that is a mix of pure cane and stevia and went ahead and bought it. It tastes just like cane sugar to me thankfully. I am just so leery of things that could be linked to cancer but I am not seeing that with stevia at least nothing concrete right now.

I am having boarder line issues with my glucose levels and I eat/drink WAY to much sugar so I have to make changes and this seems to be the safest option right now.

I can't stand the aftertaste. My DD likes it, though.

I love stevia in my hot tea. I also add it to iced-herb tea that my son loves to drink. I'm only just starting to experiment with using it in recipes. The other day I made zucchini bread and cut the sugar back from 2 cups to 1 cup. I then added a little splash of molasses and some stevia to make up the sweetness. It tasted just like the previous batch that I had made with all regular sugar.

I use Stevita brand, it's not as strong or bitter as some other varieties, I like it. They also have flavored drink powders like natural "kool aid" that are pretty tasty for when you want something other than water to drink.
