Milk leaking out nose?

While nursing ds2 today at naptime and I noticed a stream of milk leaking out of his nose. I wiped it away and there was another one a few minutes later. There is often a puddle of milk/wet spot on the sheets when we are done nursing, I thought it was leaking from his mouth now I wonder if it was from his nose the whole time. I put my arm under his head and it stopped.

Should I be concerned? I never saw milk leaking out from DS1's nose...

hi- I have no advice or answers but this sometimes happens when I'm nursing my DD too. Most often when I'm full with a lot of milk.

REally, no one has any advice/experience with this?

Sometimes it can be a sign of oversupply/OAL, I think... Since the milk can come out faster than baby can swallow. I've also heard it's not uncommon in newborns... How old is your DS? I'm pretty sure that it's not a big deal as long as it isn't bothering him.

This has happened once or twice with DS, but he's only four months. He hardly seems to notice. Does your LO seem like they're in distress?

The whole nasal/mouth area in an infant is open and free flowing you could say. I don't think it's uncommon for milk to come out of the nose -they take milk in through the mouth and most likely they are laying a bit flat while nursing and with the openness of the area some moves horizontally and out through the nose. My DS is 6 months and it's happened a few times in the past couple of months. DS seems to know no difference and unless he had some congestion issues I assume he probably hardly feels it.

This has happened with all 5 of my kids. Not a big deal. Not an indicator of future issues. No worries, Mama!

This has happened a lot with dd2, especially in the morning when my breasts are a lot more full and she eats a lot at once. Personally I'm happy to see it occasionally b/c I had supply problems with dd1 & I love seeing these indicators of her having enough milk! I really wouldnt worry.
