How much BM will he need while I'm gone?

Wednesday night I need to leave my son at home with my DH, because I have a commitment & shouldn't really bring him with me.

How much milk should I defrost for my DH?

Son is 6 weeks old, and he usually eats every 90-180 minutes for 10-15 minutes at a time. I have an oversupply & fast let down, so he's definitely getting a lot of milk. When I pump I get 4 oz in less than 10 minutes.

I have about 16 oz in the freezer right now, so I am sure that will be enough. I'll only be gone 2.5-3.5 hours.

This is the first time I'm every leaving him, so I'm a little nervous/sad/anxious. I just want to make sure he has enough food. Oh, and we know he'll take the bottle. We did a test run last week with 2 oz just to make sure.

Thanks

I would think 4oz is enough. since you have oversupply and plenty stored, maybe make it 6 just to be sure.

If you nurse right before you leave, I wouldn't do more than 4, since you can only store thawed milk for 24 hours. it may be that babe will wait for you to return to eat, if you are only gone 2.5-3 hours. I know I would hate to waste 2 oz of milk.

I agree. If I were you, I'd nurse before leaving and leave 4 ounces. It would be best if you could pump it fresh the morning before you leave, that way, if he doesn't take it, you could add it to your freezer stash, whereas if you thaw it and he doesn't take it, after 24-48 hours, it goes down the drain
