TTC a Girl

Hello Everyone,

I am getting ready to conceive #2.. and we are hoping for a little girl.. however of course we will be excited mostly for a healthy baby despite the gender. I really want to only have 2 kids.. and 1 of each would be great! So I have been doing some internet research, and have been finding some information such as the Shettles Method, and some supplements to take.

I was wondering if anybody on here has tried any of these methods to conceive the gender they wanted!

ThankS!

The chinese gender calendare(if use properly with chinese age and lunar year) is about 70% accurate with my family, that includes grandparents aunts, uncles, and siblings. We did a survey of about 30 births.

But really I don't know what offer besides shettles and praying for the opposite sex that you want. LOL............just kidding.

I hope you get some advice on this. There was another thread last week asking about a boy so if you find that you will probably find some methods.

I'm wondering about this too. I was looking at the Chinese gender calendar to see if it was accurate for my 1st. If I put in the month I actually conceived, it says it's a boy (I had a girl). Yet if I put in the month of my LMP, which is usually what they base your conception date on, it says I had a girl. So I guess that's what you have to go by. This whole lunar month thing is so confusing!

I figure I'll use the other methods to try for another girl.

Good luck to us all!

We kind of tried for a girl - and it worked! It was really easy for me to figure out when I was ovulating and I had a 28 day cycle. So, we had sex 2 days before I was due to ovulate. The first month it didn't work. The second month it did.

It seems it has something to do with before ovulation. I wish I had some expert advice, but some of what I've read online says a diet of plums, distilled water, eggs hmm a few more things, I forgot, makes the body more acidic which is what you want for a girl.

trying for a girl may make it harder to conceive because you have to DTD within your fertile time but not too close to ovulation. The girl "swimmers" are slower but last longer (so the boy swimemrs reach the egg first, but if it is a couple days before ovulation they die off before the egg gets there while the girl swimmers end up waiting there!) :-) And I too heard more acidic ( the online info I've found recommends a vinegar douche prior to DTD - but if prone to yeast infections you may not want to do this.

I did the opposite to TTC a boy and it worked so whether coincidental or not, trying to influence the odds with healthy options can't hurt - as long as you are happy with the end result either way.
Oh and the chinese gender calendar was completely wrong for all 3 of my kids.
Good luck!

For our girl we dtd right after getting a +opk (around 2pm) and then again the following night. We weren't trying for a girl but I think this is in line with Shettles, i.e., to ttc before O.

I have an excerpt from a book I can email you if you want about trying to engineer the gender. It's from The Second Dilemma by Francis Trapani. It's a short section so I wouldn't advise buying the whole book for it.

There are several methods of gender swaying, shettles and o+12 are the two that I know most about. Shettles says that you must bd 2-3 days before o for a girl and as close to o for a boy, so you have to have several monthes of charts to pinpoint your o time. He based his hypothisis on watching the sperm swim under a microscope and seeing that the female's were bigger, slower, and hardier and the males were smaller, faster, and more delicate. He also has a diet that you are to follow for several monthes prior to ttc. The "girl diet" is more acidic, while the "boy diet" is more alkaline.
With my third child, we bd'ed 3 days before o, but didn't do any of the diet stuff and he's a boy! So I'm thinking he's on to something with the diet!
The o+12 method was hypothisized by a women who had religiously followed the shettles method to try for a girl, after her 6th boy was born she tried something else. She says that if you bd 12hrs after o you are more likely to have a girl, and indeed, her seventh child was a girl!
There is alot more info on it on a site called ingender. It has alot of info on gender swaying, but can be a little over the top, some women get their hearts so set on a certain gender that they have alot of disappointment if they don't get what they wanted...I did try to take the cranberry pills and lots of cal/mag for a while as well as bding 2 days before o as well as 12 hrs after, in hopes of a girl. But after having a miscarriage two monthes ago, I've decided that if we are blessed with another child I really don't care the gender. I still find it very interesting to read about though. GL to you!
