entering a chicken in show first time- advice?

Hi! Just for fun I decided to enter an exceptionally pretty australorp pullet (6 months old) into our county fair. I thought about one of my pretty white Ameraucanas but if anything happened to either of them I'd be devastated! I am attached to the australorps too but have several more of them.

I've never done this- what should I do to prepare? My australorps are a little on the nervous side even though I touch them regularly and spend lots of time with them. Will that be a problem do you all think? I don't really pick them up that much.

I'd appreciate any advice since I'm a complete livestock show novice! (well I go to look whenever possible but have never participated.)

Thanks!

Here's a useful link on show prep: http://www.poultryclub.org/ACShowprep.htm
And here's a link to the American Poultry Association (they sell books & DVDs about showing):

Good luck! Showing chickens can be a lot of fun!
