Websites & Software for First Grade

Colwyn would be starting first grade this year, and Lachlann would be in Kindergarten. I'm looking for something educational that they can do on the computer, since with Niall (3 months), I won't have much time for one-on-one stuff.. I don't expect to do much of anything in the way of lessons for probably three more months. The one thing I know we'll be doing is Latin because I'm leading a class for our HS group.

They've exhausted Starfall. Colwyn's reading pretty well (maybe 2nd-3rd grade level) but Lachlann is not. They both can add and subtract, Colwyn's learning how to tell time, and they're both learning about money.

Anything fun that covers some of the basics for first grade? I'm open to all subject areas..

if you don't mind paying, time 4 learning is pretty good (i used it with my dd and she really liked it). it's not fully comprehensive (which sounds okay with you), but the phonics is good enough as a stand alone imho. you can register for grade 1 and still have access to the kindergarten and grade 2 lessons as well (they let you work a grade above or below what you register for). anyway, you could try it for 2 weeks & get your money back if it's a bust. brainpopjr is also good, but costly. you get a 3 day trial i think? so again, you could test it out first. here are some free sites i had bookmarked... not used them all...so i'm not quite sure if they're great or not. hth.

I second time4learning. We have used it since kindergarten. We will be starting third grade this week. I also have a granddaughter in Pre-K, one in fourth grade, and a grandson in seventh grade, all using Time4learning. I think it's a good core curriculum. We supplement with nature centers, environmental centers, museums, and things like that. But last summer and fall I was too sick to do anything and it was enough for my son. Learning games for kids is a great free website with all kinds of games from preschool on up. Not sure how far up they go, but it covers all kinds of subjects. Definitely good for kindy and 1st.
