myjo, contact the WAVA and ask them whether they still have openings. Some states are already full, others aren't, and some have waiting lists. How enrollment happens varies from state to state, too. I know that WYVA was accepting people throughout last year - I imagine that at some point past the beginning of second semester, they cut it off, but there were new families in February.
Cat, it sounds like your study area is great!!
I'm jealous - my 'school desk' is right next to dh's home office (back to back at our desks) - mess everywhere and much school is carried into the living room, kitchen, etc. Dh's office remodel is very close to done, so I'm looking forward to expanding space for the school area soon. I'm hoping to talk dh into a 'kid size' table the girls can sit at to do school work, color, etc. We'll see what he says ....!
Seren, I did temporary schedule blocking (only math for a week last spring, and while traveling we'll have block days where we do only phonics or whatever that day) -- it has worked fine for us in that 'version.' Personally I think Ina likes the diversity of things to think about, so the full-on block version probably wouldn't work for us long-term; but it would maybe work if I were pairing things (morning = science, afternoon = language)?
